Man arrested in St George after officer spots stolen car

Police have announced that they arrested a man in St George and recovered a stolen car following burglaries in Montpelier and Warmley.

Kingswood Neighbourhood PC Stuart Mathias was patrolling in Kennard Road when he spotted an Audi which had been reported stolen in a burglary in Montpelier on Monday 9 April.

The vehicle was lost to sight, but PC Mathias had seen the driver. He subsequently saw a man matching that description.

The suspect was arrested by PC Mathias at 7:00pm on Saturday 14 April, on suspicion of a burglary in Warmley on Wednesday 11 April in which jewellery was stolen, as well as the burglary in Montpelier in which the car was stolen.

He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
